Change is Coming
Most of us are looking for permanence. By that I mean we have a picture in our minds of what it will look like when we’ve arrived, when we’ve finally achieved what we want, so that life really can’t get any better. Intuitively we long for what’s best, for stability, for consistency, for reliability, for genuine happiness, for life to be the very best it can be. And, if we were honest, we’d like it sooner than later. But here’s the problem. Is it really possible to attain permanence with temporary things? Maybe that’s why phrases like “this is the last” never turn out to be true, because we keep filling in the blank with temporary things. Peter said those things were corrupt. They are doomed to decay, destruction and death. By their very nature they can never be “the last” because they don’t last. Are you trying to build a permanent life with temporary stuff?
