About City Serve

City Serve is an opportunity to take grace to our community. On Saturday, January 21, we're partnering with local ministries to participate in 16  family-friendly service projects. Browse the projects below and sign up for a project individually or with your family, friends, or small group.
Sign up by December 15 and you're guaranteed to receive a free City Serve shirt!

Schedule:
9am-12pm* - Arrive at project and start serving  
12:30pm - Lunch & Celebration at Faith Bible Church
Blood Drive - Arrive at the Blood Drive Mobile in the Faith Bible parking lot at your designated time. Sign up for a time slot.

Service Projects

On-Campus

Food Packing for Haiti (On-Campus, 100 people max)
9am-12pm
We're partnering with Mission of Hope to pack 25,000 meals for under-resourced families in Haiti. The group will also prepare lunches for City Serve participants. Lunch will be served at 12:30pm at Faith Bible Church.
First Responder Appreciation (On-Campus, 25 people max)
9am-12pm
For this project, we will fill bags with a water bottle, candy, and a "Thank You" note for officers, firefighters, and EMS.  
"Thanks for Giving" Notes & Baskets (On-Campus, 20 people max)
9am-12pm
Express your appreciation for our Faith Bible volunteers through encouraging notes. In conjunction, others will assemble thank you baskets for our church cleaning crew.
Prison Ministry Cards of Encouragement (On-Campus, 25 people max)
9am-12pm
Statistics show 1 in 6 of the prison officers deal with self-harm and marital issues. Support our Prison Ministry by signing cards to encourage statewide prison officers and staff. This is a simple project with a large impact.
Bags of Love for the Homeless (On-Campus, 20 people max)
9am-12pm
For this project, we will assemble care bags for homeless individuals. Church members can then pick up these bags at the mission counter at a later time to gift to homeless individuals who we encounter on a daily basis. 
Letters of Love (On-Campus, 20 people max)
9am-12pm
For this project, will be making homemade Valentine’s Cards for Seniors who are in nursing homes and hospice. We're partnering with Homecare Angels who will then deliver the cards.

Off-Campus

Off-campus volunteers will meet at their designated project location.
Angel Reach (Off-Campus, 40 people max)
9am-12pm
Our Local Missions Partner Angel Reach supports foster caregivers and equips homeless youth to live independently. Project participants will serve at a variety of Angel Reach locations throughout Conroe and perform various light jobs such as: window washing, painting, power washing, and fence repair.Volunteers will split up and travel to different locations in the Conroe area.
Compassion United Food Pantry (Off-Campus, 7 people max)
8am-12pm
Compassion United offers a food pantry for families in need of groceries. For this project, participants will sort groceries, make boxes of groceries for families, and deliver groceries to client's vehicles.

Volunteers must be age 13+ and able to lift at least 15lbs. 
Mercy House (Off-Campus, 15 people max)
10am-12pm
Mercy House supports and empowers women around the world. Volunteers will prepare fair trade products made by artisans around the globe for sale by unpacking, sorting, tagging, pricing, packaging, and labeling.

InterFaith Hand Me Up Shop (Off-Campus, 12 people max)
9am-12pm
A small group will visit the Hand Me Up Shop to sort donations, tag merchandise, set up displays, test electronics, etc.  Please wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes.

PACN Baby Bottles (Off-Campus, 15 people max)
9am-12pm
PACN offers free pregnancy care and resources for women in our community. Volunteers will prepare fundraiser baby bottles and mom/dad gift bags.

PACN Thrift Store (Off-Campus, 8 people max)
9am-12pm
PACN offers free pregnancy care and resources for women in our community. Project participants will help sort items at the PACN thrift store.

On/Off-Campus

Evangelism Project (On/Off-Campus, 20 people max)
9am-12pm
For this project, we will meet at Faith Bible to fill snap purses (made by our Sewing Seeds ministry) with scripture cards (in English and Spanish). The group can choose where to share the gospel and pass out snap purses, whether it be Market Street, North Shore Park, or an Apartment Complex.
 
Nourishment for the Needy (On/Off-Campus, 7 people max)
9am-12pm
For this project, volunteers will meet at Faith Bible Church to filter through donations from our church food drive (first 3 weeks of January). Then they will deliver donations to  Nourishment for the Needy and help stock and reorganize the inventory at the food pantry.

Journey Home (Off-Campus, 4 people max)
9am-12pm
Journey Home is a Christ-centered Maternity Home. For this project, we will complete light maintenance around the home such as power washing, repairs, and taking down Christmas lights.

Love Fosters Hope (On/Off Campus, 20 people max)
9am-12pm
Love Fosters Hope provides summer camps for teenagers in crisis. Project participant will travel to Love Fosters Hope to help with minor maintenance projects and write encouraging notes to mentors and mentees.

InterFaith "Let's Eat" Backpacks (On/Off-Campus, 12 people max)
9am-12pm
After meeting at Faith Bible, participants will travel to a local grocery store of their choice to purchase items from a suggested list. Then, they will travel back to the church to assemble weekend kits for food insecure students.This project is in partnership with InterFaith.

Blood Drive

10am-1pm at Faith Bible Church

In addition to your service project, you can also donate blood at the Blood Drive Mobile located in the church parking lot. Sign up below and arrive at the mobile at your designated appointment time.

Blood Donors must be at least 17 years of age to donate blood.
