Day 33: John 1:1-3
Devotional
READ JOHN 1:1-3
Think about the very beginning when there was nothing but God. No turmoil, no brokenness, just His perfect purpose. This was before the world we know now, with its complications and struggles, even existed. In John 1:1-3, we’re reminded that Jesus—called the Word here—was right there with God. He wasn’t a distant observer; He was actively creating, designing, and speaking life into being.
John opens his gospel with a line that echoes Genesis 1:1, setting up the big picture: Jesus, the Word, has always existed. He didn’t just show up on the scene later; He was with God in the very beginning, creating everything with purpose and intention. Here, John is pointing out that Jesus is fully God, and through Him, everything came to life. John is showing us that this world wasn’t just some random event; it was created in perfect order and goodness, untouched by chaos until sin came along.
Knowing that Jesus created everything with love and purpose means He cares deeply about every detail, including our lives. Sin has complicated things, but the same Jesus who created everything is the One who can restore and heal us. Nothing is beyond His power. When we feel overwhelmed by life’s trials, we can look to the One who spoke the world into existence. If He created a perfectly ordered world, He can bring clarity and peace into our lives too.
Take a moment to think about an area of your life that feels out of control. Invite Jesus, the Creator, into that space. Ask Him to bring His original peace and purpose into your heart and circumstances, knowing He’s more than able to make all things new.

Personal Reflection
- How does knowing Jesus as the Creator influence your view of His power in your life?
- Where might you need Him to bring peace and order?
- How does understanding that you are intentionally created by God impact the way you see yourself and your purpose?

I tend to overthink, so this devotional was reassuring. If God created the world, He is more than capable of bringing peace into my life! Thank you, God!
It is crazy to think that the one who created to the world also came into to it to save us. And to save us he had to die. Humbling thought and deeply personal. Thanks for the encouraging words.
