Meet Shannon Benoit

We came to The Woodlands after Joel, my husband, retired from the Navy after 25 years of service and joined Faith Bible Church in January 2013. During those 25 years, we moved from duty station to duty station. One constant I had was being in community with women who were walking the same or a similar journey as me. It was a comfort to walk into a new church and have a connection with other women in the military community. I enjoyed command meeting and the get togethers we wives often had during the deployments.

It was a joy to come a long side the new wives to help them adjust to life as a military wife. I was thankful for the wives who helped me as a new wife and those who walked beside me as we lived this topsy-turvy life of a submarine spouse. God used this time in my life to grow the gifts and characteristics traits He had given me. I have always loved talking to other women. Hearing their stories, loving on them, and being God’s hands and feet to help meet their needs - this brings me an indescribable joy.
When we moved from a military town and a military community, I had none of my former tools for making connections. My identity as a military wife had always made it easier but, I was floundering is a new community.

I am so thankful to be a part of the Faith Bible Church Family. God used what brought me joy before in a new way. He was training me all that time for the great plan of His grace and glory.  I jumped feet first into the Ladies ministry and let them know I was willing to help in any way. I have had the privilege of serving in the Apples of Gold ministry, first as a cooking mentor then as a teaching mentor. I also get to love on the ladies as a group shepherd for the Tuesday morning lady’s bible study.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 has played out in my life over and over again. God has comforted me in all my troubles. He has provided a way that I in turn have been able to comfort others with that same comfort. It is a joy to live this out especially in the hard spots of life when I need Him and community to walk the journey.
