Baptism Celebration/Missions Sunday

"19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." [1]" (Matthew 28:19–20, NASB 95)

On Sunday, we celebrated the ordinance of believer's baptism in both services and heard a fantastic presentation from Dr. Annie Alaniz. I hope you could also visit with our missionaries in the church foyer. Faith Bible Church has a rich history of supporting missionaries and ministering worldwide through financial offerings and ministry volunteers on mission trips. Discussion Questions:
  1. Our text from Matthew is known as The Great Commission. In it, Jesus links baptism with spreading the gospel to all nations. Why is baptism an essential aspect of evangelism?
  2. We heard wonderful testimonies from the people who were baptized on Sunday. Which one resonated with you the most?
  3. If you have been baptized, tell the group your story. What is the testimony of your life before Christ, how you came to accept His gift of salvation, and the circumstances of your baptism?
  4. The word 'gospel' means 'good news.' Missions work is primarily about sharing the good news of salvation through Jesus. Why does it also include providing help through medical teams, food, and other work projects? Read Matthew 25:35-40 and 1 John 3:17-18. How do these verses help us understand the meaning of missions? What other verses do you know?
  5. Have you been on a mission trip? Tell the group about it.
  6. What service or mission project can your group do together?
