Meet Grace Bauer

Growing up, I remember that we had a bible that was on display, but we never read it. God seemed like a distant being who was not interested in me. My first marriage was filled with verbal and physical abuse. During these years, a friend invited me to a church service where I would hear God talked about in a way I’d never experienced. At 23 I received a bible of my own, my first, as a Christmas gift. Interestingly enough, it was from my first husband. It was in that difficult time in my life that I truly fell in love with Jesus and His Word.  He became so alive to me; no longer distant. He showed me that the promises in His Word are true.

Fast forward a few years and I was now a single Mom. One day I loaded up my son who was a baby at the time and 4 year-old daughter in the car for church.  When I arrived at church, I realized I didn’t have my bible and thought I must have left it on the kitchen table.  Well, after several days of looking high and low, I couldn’t find it anywhere!!  I was so upset because it was so special to me. Through its pages was the first I ever heard God speak to me. So, I did the only thing I knew to do…PRAY!  I remember telling God that I knew He saw my heart and how special it was to me.  I asked Him to please bring it back to me.

About a week later, I received a call from a lady who said, “I think I have your bible and would be happy to return it to you.” I’d written my name on the inside cover. What’s truly amazing is how she came across it! She and her daughter were driving in the back of my neighborhood and her daughter “happened” to spot it in a drainage ditch.  Apparently, while I was buckling my son in his car seat, I left my bible on top of the car.

For over a week, a rainy week I might add, my bible laid in this ditch.  And just as I specifically prayed, God literally brought it back to me; to my front door without a blemish!

God is so faithful with every care we bring to Him and He knows our hearts.
